When you communicate via email, your email signature is usually the final point of communication your reader has and it presents an avenue for more subtle, yet effective branding and marketing. By including your logo in the signature, you will be increasing the reach and exposure of your brand, thus adding more to your marketing efforts.

A good logo as your signature should be simple, professional and informative. You can effortlessly implement this on your signature without making it look dull and boring. Presented below are some of the ways to use to make your email signature cool with a logo.

Don’t include too much information

One of the most common mistakes people make with their email signature is to thing that they are mini autobiography. They end up jamming them with lots of unnecessary information and links which ultimately make them look dull and boring. When you create your signature with a logo, there is no need to include too much information.

The essence of the logo is to market your brand, and if people can take note of it, they will definitely head over to your website where they will find the rest of the information you are tempted to include in the sign. Therefore, try and keep the signature clean and to the point by not cramming it with the logo in addition with lots of other information.

Consider the color of your logo

As noted earlier, the signature will be the last thing the reader will see after reading the email. When you use a logo as the signature, it is important to consider the dominant color of your design. There are instances when the color may appear a little dull when used in the signature and in such cases, it is advisable that you tweak the colors and probably use some bright pallets to attract the reader’s attention to the logo. Obviously, when the color of the logo doesn’t contrast that of the email, then decipherability will be hampered and the logo will not be as effective as it would have been.

Use just the right size

For proper organization and better display of the logo on the signature, the size ought to be just the right one. A large logo size will not just be boring and annoying to the reader, but it may also affect the rendition of your email and make the structure and the organization disjointed. Additionally, if the signature takes more space than the actual content of the email, you may appear as imposing your brand to the recipients and it may make them change your perception about you.

Use smaller font pallets

Too many fonts are not a disaster for your logo alone, but also for your signature. Ideally, it is advisable not to use a lot of fonts in your logo and if this is the case, you will have to do some tweaking when using the logo in your email signature. This is a nice way to keep the logo simple and clear as the name and thus making it more effective in your branding efforts.

Let the logo be in the right format for small screens as well

It goes without saying that the logo should be able to render properly in computer screens before you use in the signature. Some businesses not fond of using communications may just pick any logo format and use it as the signature. You need to ensure that the logo is in a format which can be rendered across multiple devices, and especially on small screens, without its quality being affected. This is very important given that the number of people accessing emails via mobile device keeps on increasing and if the image in the signature can’ be displayed well on mobile devices, it may be a blow to your marketing and branding efforts.

Full width email signs

For most people using emails in their signatures, they follow the conventional format of position the signature at the bottom left section at the end of the email. Whereas this is the position which has been in use since time immemorial, sometimes a little creativity is needed to stand out from the crowd. For instance, you can modify the logo size to have an extended width to make it larger and more conspicuous.

In this way, it will draw in a lot of attention from the reader, besides making the email appear aesthetically appealing. However, you should consider this approach only if the logo can adopt a landscape layout without compromising its quality and overall visual appeal.

For better results with the logo as the email signature, there are other common mistakes that people fall for when designing their email signatures. For instance, there is no need for you to put all your phone numbers and email addresses on the signature. Watch out for such mistakes and you will never get it wrong with your email signatures.

The long term effect of this is proper branding for the organization. Such a logo will also act as a unique identifier for the business which will set it apart and make it stand out from its competitors.

Other than the simplicity of such brand logos, you will also discover that their designs have been targeted for specific reasons and to a particular group of people. They use colors, symbols, shapes and typography to make the logos connect well with the targeted audience. This is based on the premises that branding can’t be successful if you try to target every Tom, Dick and Harry. Here is a look at some of the unforgettable brands with awesome logo designs. Whenever you see these logos, you will never fail to recognize which companies they belong to. This is the ultimate aim of marketing and branding.

The current logo was arrived at after iterations, with the initial one having been designed by one of the founders – Steve Jobs. Thus creating a unique but memorable distinctiveness that has helped the company achieve the current levels of success it enjoys. Even having been redesigned recently, the logo has maintained it charm and effectiveness in promoting the brand of the company.

Is Your Logo Design Adaptive?

Brands change and evolve over the years. Logos have always been part of the branding for most businesses and when brand changes. But should you amend the logo with every evolution of the brand? This is not necessary true at all times as it will lead to the utilization of lots of time and resources without any guarantees of success while at the same time risking inconsistency in the branding efforts of the business. One sure way to avoid this is for every designer to resort to the creation of adaptive logo designs which will be easily adaptable to the changing brands.

Since the rise of dynamic logos, designers have been looking into different ways of how they can make logos adaptive not just for the branding needs of the businesses but also for various applications. As the needs of the clients continue to transform, it pays to have an arsenal of innovative ways for adaptive logo designs so that you can help your clients make the branding process more flexible. Here are the various approaches you can take when you are looking forward to coming up with adaptive logo designs.

Expand the parameters of your logo

Most designers are fond of thinking that the parameters of their logos have to be closed at all times. This implies that once they are done with a logo design, then there is nothing more to it, and it can be used in any application and for as long as possible. This is a limiting misconception that needs to be dropped before the creation of adaptive logo designs.

Parameters such as the use of color, typeface and letter placement should not be restricted only to the present but also to the future given that these are the major elements of logo design. When such parameters are kept adaptive and flexible, then it will be easy to adapt the logo as the brand changes as the years go by.

Identity can also be a concept

Sometimes all that is needed for a logo to be adaptive is an idea or a simple concept. This calls for the concept of designing “loose” logos that will create consistency and coherence across all the marketing and branding platforms of the business. With such a concept, you have the liberty to create similar logo sets so that the business has the versatility to choose the type of logos to use on different platforms and different branding materials.

The logo sets should be designed in a manner that they will be in tandem to complement each other and not try to create a different identity. With this approach, the identity of the brand will be viewed as a concept present across all the logo sets and not as something that must just be pegged to a particular logo.

Logotypes are the most adaptable

Logotypes are the most adaptive logo designs you will ever come across. Logotypes essentially present a self-contained item with everything packed in one package. A logotype has the brand name, the aesthetic as well as the identity of the business. If the branding needs of the business changes in the future, it will be very easy to adapt the logotype to reflect the changes in the brand.

A look at some of the best logotypes in the world will reveal to you just how easy these logos are adaptable to the changing needs of the brand. Whenever there is a major rebranding, these logos never deviate a lot from the original logotypes. For instance, the Google logo has undergone various modifications to adapt to the branding needs of the search giant and the logotype has always been spot on each time.

Color and black and white logos

The other way to come up adaptive logo designs is to have a logo in color as well as in black and white. This is crucial for the branding needs of the business for two main reasons. The first reason is that black and white logos exude that vintage appeal and will work well for the branding needs of the company, even if the company was to changes its primary colors in the branding process.

Secondly, it is important to accept the print and budget limitations associated with adaptive logo designs and graphics design in general. In some cases, the company may not have the resources to print all their logos in full color, and this makes the black and white a viable option. Black and white logos are also suitable for a wide range of applications, hence their adaptability.

The tips above are unique and great solutions for creating adaptive logos for businesses. They will make a nice addition to your skill set so that you are not afraid of the changes that might happen to the brand whose logo you are creating in a few years from now.

Can a logo have a universal appeal?

When it comes to building a logo that really sticks and has universal appeal there are a number of big elements that come into any logo design. Universal appeal as something that is not easy to capture and it’s important to note that if your logo is your brand ambassador, with a good logo your brand can be universally appealing as well. If you ever have a logo make you feel a certain way or you have particular logos that stick out in your mind, your brand definitely wants to be the next to complete these same actions for others. While there is no set formula for creating a logo that has universal appeal there are certainly some elements of a logo that can make it stick in people’s minds and create a strong impression over some competitors content.

Here are some of the biggest design elements that your logo needs to have in order to have universal appeal:

Simplicity:

Less is definitely more when it comes to logo design and keeping things clear is extremely important. Adding too many different shapes, texts, colors or images can drastically change the way that your logo can make an impact with the market. Avoid adding too much and keep your logo symbols so they can have a greater chance at obtaining universal appeal.

Impact:

A lasting impression is absolutely important for creating universal appeal. Creating this lasting impression involves a simple yet consistent color scheme. Your logo needs to stick out in a crowd and have visual appeal. This doesn’t necessarily mean creating a bright and flashy logo with two primary colors. Instead focus on using bold/ clear fonts and a color palette that is impactful and reflective of your brand. A memorable logo needs to really make you feel something and stick out when you see it. Imagine a row of storefront signs in a busy mall, now design a logo that is going to draw people to your store when they have so much other choice.

Unique:

While emulating the styles of iconic logos can be a good starting point for any classic logo a logo design needs to also offer something new. Without any type of unique aspect to your logo it’s very easy for it to get lost in the crowd. Make sure that your logo can be seen easily and there has at least some type of unique concept that sets it apart from the competition. This is the design element that really takes a while to perfect but if done correctly your logo can have a universal appeal because it’s something that people have not seen before.

Relevant:

Making sure that your logo is modern and relevant is also extremely important. Your logo also needs to be extremely relevant to your business. Keeping with the times in keeping with your corporate culture is a way that you can create a logo that says everything about you in just a few seconds. Fonts and styles that misrepresent your company or emulate an older style of design will not have a universal appeal for your customers.

Versatile and repeatable:

A quality logo will be versatile to the point where it can be duplicated and used across lots of marketing material. Creating logos with universal appeal means generating a logo design that will work on your website, in print material, on T-shirts and a variety of other placements. People should be excited about wearing your logo and about what it represents. Without a versatile product that can be showcased in many materials, you could be missing out on lots of opportunity for brand awareness.

Fully scalable:

With the help of a professional design program you can work to create a logo design that fully scalable. The problem that you can often face however is that the design can lose its impact when it is resized. You should do some initial research through mockups to see how your logo might look on a billboard, on printed signage, on business cards and on websites. If you can create a logo that looks just as good on a mug as it does on a bus ad you have definitely done your job correctly when it comes to scalability.

A timeless design:

Remember that most logo designs should last at least 10 years. Logos that have universal appeal however don’t need redesigns every decade. When we think of some of the most iconic logos that have been around for many decades, they have seen minimal redesigns as well. Good logos can override design trends and can in fact be the trendsetting logos themselves. By creating an iconic logo at the beginning of your business it can carry you through to international success and beyond. While a timeless design can take time to perfect is truly only the timeless logos that gain universal appeal and exposure.

5 Luxury Brand Logos

A luxury brand logo is a sure-fire way to get someone’s attention.

Some of the worlds most desirable designer brands and luxury brands have instantly recognizable logos because they are portrayed in mainstream culture as royal.

These are luxury brands that have made themselves known in the media, in film, in print advertisements and more.

They often come with specialty logos that enhance the brand and make people want to use these luxury products even more.

Here are some of the top luxury brand logos that have been around for years that people continue to appreciate to this day.

Use these examples in the creation of your own luxury brand logos:

Rolls Royce:

The luxury auto maker Rolls Royce has their luxury logo on the front of every Rolls Royce vehicle.

The symbol has been named many things over the years.

You may have heard of the small sculpture which sits on the front of these vehicles as “Emily”, “The Spirit of Ecstasy”, “ The silver lady”, or more.

The original version of this sculpted symbol was created by a famous English sculptor.

These same objects are still handcrafted and make their way to the front of Rolls Royce vehicles.

The model was Eleanor Velasco Thorton who was the woman who was sculpted by auto pioneer John Walter Edward Douglas Scott-Montagu.

This means that the luxury symbol not only showcases freedom and wealth but also an intense love and passion.

The same passion that many people feel for their Rolls Royce Vehicle.

Chanel:

Chanel and its interlocking C’s are some of the most famous luxury logo icons we have today.

Not only does this image often pop up at fashion shows, in the mainstream media, at awards shows, and in designer stores, but we see them regularly in advertising.

Between Chanel perfume and the clothing that the company produces, there is always brand recognition when it comes to this beautiful logo.

It has a deep history as well.

The logo design was crafted by Coco Chanel in the year 1925 and has continued to be used by the company completely unchanged up to this day.

Some think that the logo is inspired by interlocking Cs that can be found at the Chateau Cremat, whereas others think inspiration was taken from Renaissance interlocking medallions.

One thing is for sure, this is a highly recognizable logo with a deep history.

Louis Vuitton:

The Louis Vuitton Monogram is coveted as a motif for fashion gurus and it can be found on a variety of designer luggage, fashion items, handbags and more.

The original motif print was designed as a specialty monogram logo to stop counterfeiting attempts.

While other styles of luggage are easier to counterfeit, the Flower motif, which is Japanese inspired, came out in 1896 and is still used to this day.

The designer branding uses a damier or French checkerboard pattern with brown and beige squares in a pattern.

This look created not only an iconic look for fashion, but it serves as the company’s main logo as well.

This is an extremely recognizable luxury brand.

Rolex:

The Rolex crown is one of the most iconic symbols in the entire world of watches.

The Rolex crown can often be found at events, on the watches themselves, as well as in a variety of advertising.

It is a fairly subtle logo, but when you see a real Rolex or the advertising, you will definitely be interested to learn more.

The Rolex logo has a deep history and it is also fairly simple.

The main goal of the Rolex crown was to use it as an extension of the main slogan.

The Rolex’s slogan at one time stated there was “A crown for every achievement”.

The use of the crown in the logo stuck.

Since the year 1903, the brand has been using this logo in all of its marketing and on its watches.

The crown symbolizes the precision and prestige for a watch worth celebrating.

This could be the reason why Rolex watches are often given out to winning athletes.

Ralph Lauren:

From Ralph Lauren perfume and cologne to quality fashion items, this symbol is heavily showcased.

The Polo by Ralph Lauren collection features famous fashion items and promotes an active lifestyle.

The launch of this brand, however, actually started with a line of swimsuits for women.

These 1970’s swimsuits were built for women but tailored in a designer style for men.

This is the first time this logo was used on an item.

The full polo emblem made its way to fashion items just two years later and has remained unchanged since.

The Polo from Ralph Lauren logo is the embodiment of luxury, style, an active lifestyle, and pure elegance.

What is So Special about the New Google Logo?

Google, the giant tech company, unveiled a few major majors in the company towards the end of 2015 and to accompany the changes was an update on their logo, hence, their image. The changes in the logo, however, are not so huge to warrant an entire rebrand, but they are significant enough to be noticed by any person with a keen eye for design.

The logo retained its original form of being the wood mark type but now with a sans-serif typeface. This has given it more modern looks. Additionally, it now appears more playful than before. The new look also uses softer color tones compared to the initial ones which appeared to be slightly rougher for the looks.

Why did Google update their logo?

For a big company like Google to decide to update its logo, there have to be strong and concrete reasons behind it. Logos are the brand drivers for such big organizations hence they are at the core of every undertaking by the company. Google has been around for decades now, and it has gone through a lot of changes.

The company no longer offer online search services alone but has branched and now has an interest in other industries as well. The way users interact with technology has also changed a lot since the company launched.

Presently, Google is running a huge collection of sites, services, and applications. The need to update the logo was thus driven by the fact that the company has evolved, and it is no longer what people used to know fifteen years ago. The logo has also been updated to accommodate the needs of the current browsing behaviors such as the use of mobile phones as well as other mobile devices in accessing the internet. So, what makes the new Google Logo special?

The first major change in 16 years

Big companies are known to rebrand each time they introduce a new product line or new services. This is done so that the new looks, including the logo, can reflect the changes happening in the company. However, this was not the case with Google, given that it has introduced a plethora of services in the last sixteen years without any significant update on the logo. It now manufactures wearable technologies, cars and also involved in global mapping amongst other things. But despites all these, the recent logo update was the major one in the last sixteen years. This is a show of some nerve and resilience in the brand as it was able to introduce new products and services without really affecting the image of the company.

The new logo is simplified

The new Google logo looks more modern and simpler compared to the previous ones. The logo is in fact as simple as ABC123 and it can be seen and even drawn by anyone. It is a perfect demonstration of minimalist design, one with less style but full of substance because it has managed to retain its distinctiveness and uniqueness in the industry.

Cross Platform Compatibility

The internet has evolved a lot in the last sixteen years. Back then, only desktop and laptops could be used to access the internet by the majority. But presently, the internet is virtually everywhere and so is Google. The new logo has been designed to be display on all the devices used in accessing the internet without any adjustments or changes.

With the old logo, however, Google had to adjust to make the logo visible in the mobile devices and what users saw in the mobile devices was slightly different from what was seen on the desktop devices. However, the new Google logo is now compatible across all the devices, and the users will be treated to the same logo irrespective of what they are using to access the internet.

New Levels in Material Design

Google has been raising the bar with its focus on Material Design language, and this has been fully realized in the new Google logo. What you see in the new logo is nothing special but a flat and a six character logo with simple strokes. This is also evident in the company logos for other products such as Maps, News, Translate, and Google Plus. A closer look at the logos will reveal to you that they all have a white insignia at the top corners of the logo. This is material design in action.

The new Logo is Bytes Less

The other special thing about the new Google logo is the fact that it is smaller regarding bytes compared to the previous one. The new logo is only 305 bytes instead of 14,000 bytes of the older one.

Though mobile bandwidth is measured in gigabytes and this might seem like a small change, not everyone in the world who uses Google services is not guaranteed to have the same data plan hence this is a new development for very many people. With this, the company can now reach more and more people and continue to enhance and grow their brand.

5 Unforgettable Brands with Awesome Logos

Most successful companies will reveal that behind their success, they had powerful logos. Such logos don’t just display a great prowess in design. Since they stick to the conscious mind, these logos end up becoming household names, thus increasing the brand awareness of the company. Here are some of the unforgettable companies with brand logos that enjoy enormous worldwide recognitions:

Coca-Cola

There is no way a list of the top brand logos can ever be compiled with the exclusion of Cola-Cola. It will be a show of significant and pure contempt to the huge success the world beverage company enjoys. Even though some of the top brands have embarked on a series of rebranding where sometimes the logos were significantly changed, the Coca-Cola logo hasn’t changed much since it was first used way back in 1887.

The swirly scripted logo is now part of our lives, and I’m yet to know of a country that doesn’t have this awesome drink on their shelves. For the next many years to come, we can expect that the great design of Frank Manson Robinson will not change since it has now reached the status of an icon.

Nike

In the sporting world, Nike is without a doubt one of the most famous and easily recognizable brand logos you will ever see. The Swoosh is not just elegant, but it is a display of quality sporting goods, hence its popularity in the sporting industry. Just to demonstrate the power of the Swoosh, the logo doesn’t even have the name of the company, but you will never doubt which company it belongs to.

It will surprise you to learn that the iconic logo was designed by a university student by the name Carolyn Davidson for only $35 in 1971. Back then, the company never knew about the immense success the logo would bring them, and it is said that they never liked in the first place. However, they have come to appreciate her contribution towards the creation of one of the best brand logos in history.

Apple

The first Apple logo was the creation of Steve Jobs and it depicted the discovery of gravity with an image of Isaac Newton sitting under a tree watching an apple falling. Though it is not apparent what Steve’s intention was, back then, was to make one of the awesome brand logos.

The apple, with a bite taken out of it, was a redesign of the initial logo done by Rob Janoff in 1976. The logo has undergone a few changes, transforming from the rainbow colored one to the current monochrome logo that has become synonymous with the products of the company. Seeing this symbol anywhere will always tell you what it is all about.

Ferrari

The Ferrari horse is icon amongst the driving enthusiasts, and it is one of the brand logos you will never fail to recognize whenever you see it. The proud Italian brand came into existence in 1929. But the logo can be traced back to 1923, when Ferrari founder, Enzo Ferrari used it on his racing car. Enzo was a fighter pilot who strangely used to have a horse thought to bring him good luck on his plane.

No wonder when he founded the company, he decided to use the horse, first due to personal attachment, then secondly, due to the drive and the power you could get from that machine. Enzo Ferrari is gone, but the logo will continue to be one of the unforgettable brand logos of all times.

McDonald’s

It will also be unfair to exclude the McDonald’s logo among the memorable top brand logos in the world. It is not only the fact that they have been around for a relatively longer time but the attachment to the products and the emotions they invoke whenever one sees them is what qualifies it as one of the best brand logos.

It features a simple design of golden arches that were introduced back in 1962. It was a result of the inspiration by one of the company founders, Dick McDonald. The initial intention of the arches was that they would be introduced in the architecture of the restaurant as well. Today, the logo is one of the most recognizable in the world

There are other top brand logos worth mentioning. But these are the most famous and the most recognizable ones.
