When people start nonprofit organization, branding is never a major concern at the inception stages. The thoughts of the individual are consumed with a burning desire to improve the world or change a particular situation that will in turn leave the world a better a place. But once the nonprofit picks up steam, branding become inevitable as there is need to attract the right kind of donors to help the organization meet its goals.

Additionally, branding becomes imperative to gain the support of the public also in standing together with the nonprofit in its endeavors. But since most of the nonprofit founders are not well versed with the intrigues that rule the marketing and branding spheres, they end up creating a logo and think that would be sufficient to meet their branding needs.

In as much as logo is a good starting point for branding a nonprofit, more is required and below are top tips for successfully branding a nonprofit organization.

Differentiate yourself

By differentiating yourself or the nonprofit, you are showing the world how you are different from the other nonprofit organization in your industry. You need to demonstrate what the nonprofit will be offering differently and how you will be doing it so that you convince potential donors that they, indeed, deserve to support your cause and not your competitors. Differentiate yourself by having a clear mission, vision and goals that no other nonprofit is currently focusing on.

Personalize the organization

Personification is something which can no longer be ignored when it comes to branding nonprofit organizations. Personification makes supporters feel part and parcel of the organization, for instance, by allowing supporters to create their pages on the organization websites to post their photos and stories, they will feel more welcome and it will be easy for them to help drive the agenda of the organization forward.

Still on personification, the nonprofit can give donor various options of the projects they would like to invest in. Essentially, this is simply feeding the donors ego by letting them think that they have control and they can choose where to channel their donations, based purely on their personal preferences.

Engage the stakeholders

For you to brand your nonprofit successfully, you must engage those who are truly passionate about your activities or mission. You should learn how to identify the stakeholders in the industry and also other individuals who would be interested in supporting the activities you are undertaking. But this does not meant that you should close the door to any other person who would be willing to talk to you but is not in your industry. Keep your doors open and engage as many people as possible.

Refine your message thoroughly

Just like branding in any other business, you must have a compelling user selling point to attract the attention of the target audience. In charity branding, your user selling point should be your organization’s main message. While branding the nonprofit, the message should not just be a tagline to accompany the organization’s logo. It should be clearly crafted, simple, meaningful, and powerful and compelling enough to tell the potential donors what the organization is all about while at the same time giving them a reason to channel their resources towards the missions of the nonprofit.

Use the power of story telling

Story telling has a way of creating strong connection between people in different places and under different situations. Nonprofit organizations usually deal with global issues, but sometimes they concentrate in certain specific areas or regions. By using story telling effectively, the nonprofits develop the ability to highlight their concerns in a more subtle way and attract the right donors, who are able to connect with the situations or problems depicted in the stories.

Unleash the power of volunteers and the social media

At this current age of advanced digital technology, it goes without saying that every serious nonprofit organization should be participating actively in the social media platforms. Nonprofits can harness the power of social media to build a decent amount of followers, whom they can then ask for volunteers who would be interested in furthering the course of the organization. Definitely, there will be individuals passionate about the organization and who would love to share more about the organization in the social media. If you can get a good number of such volunteers, you can have a social media marketing team that can increase the popularity of the organization in the internet leading to the discovery and acquisition of more donors.

Consistency

Finally, with all the branding strategies you will have in place for the nonprofit organization, implementation must be on a consistent basis. Disjointed branding efforts will just work for the short time, but for longevity and good results in the long run, branding the nonprofit must never stop.

With the increase in number of powerful graphics tools, online logo generators and color schemes, even those who are artistically challenged now have the power to create head turning logos in a matter of seconds. For social media marketers, this ability has made it possible for them to build and grow brands quickly, through interacting with the millions of people who frequent the social media sites on a daily basis. As you already know, Instagram is one of the biggest and the hottest social media platforms at the moment and virtually every marketer is in a race to get a piece from the humongous traffic.

For your brand to stand out amongst the millions in the site, it is imperative to provide real value to the followers and give them a reason to believe that you have a solution to their needs. Additionally, your branding must be spot on and this calls for the creation of a well suited logo to distinguish your brand from the rest. It should be noted, however, that when creating a logo for the social media such as Instagram, there are a few subtle aspects you need to have in mind to make the logo more effective. Presented here are cool tips one can use to create logos designed to be used in the social media, and especially in Instagram.

Consider the aspect ratio

Most of the marketing gurus will bring to your attention that your logos ought to be proportionate, in the sense that they should not be too wide or too short. If the logo is meant to be used in the social media such as Instagram, then there is another reason why the height and the width of the logo need to be in harmony.

Most of the social media websites, including Instagram, will display your logo or icons in a square or circular shape as is usually seen in profile displays in Facebook and Instagram respectively. In as much as your logo doesn’t have to be a perfect square or circle, it should have an aspect ratio that will enable it to display just perfectly well when should placed for display in the social media profiles.

Detach text from graphics

Since it is not possible to foresee all the applications of your logos in the future, it is highly encouraged you be versatile with the design, especially if you ever think that the logo will be used in the social media websites such as Instagram. You may be faced with a situation where you will be compelled to rearrange or use certain section of your logo if it doesn’t fit properly in certain shapes or sizes. If, perhaps, you needed to have very small icons, then it may be possible to include the entire logo. Due to this, most companies have adopted the use graphical elements or a single letter for their logos in the social media. It implies that if your graphics and texts are intertwined in the logo, then it may not be possible for you to separate the elements and use the logo in Instagram without confusing your followers. Therefore, consider detaching text from graphics when you are designing a logo for use in Instagram or any other social media platform.

Remember to keep it simple

Gone are the days when the quality of a logo would be determined by the total number of graphical elements and colors it had. Presently, minimalism and simplicity rules in the world of logo design. When designing your logo for use in Instagram or any other social media platform for that matter, avoid using too many words, thin lines, and very detailed graphical elements in the design. If the logo becomes too detailed, it will not just appear confusing to many people, but also resizing it may be difficult and this may work against your brand. Again, avoid using all the colors of the rainbow in the logo hoping that you will make it more beautiful and more conspicuous. This will create unnecessary noise and may not deliver you very good results in the social media, where there is already a lot of distractions from the followers.

Be consistent

In as much as you are creating the logo to be used in Instagram, it should be consistent with the logo being used in other social media sites. Through consistency, people will see the same image in the different platforms and this will work strongly for your social media branding needs. If you are keen, you will notice that most of the successful brands have a simplified variation of their designs being used across all their social media outlets. Without consistency, you will miss an opportunity to connect with your audiences throughout the social channels and in the process miss an incredible opportunity to achieve effective social media branding.

Designing a logo may sound simple, but to the professional who is keen on growing their practice or taking their businesses to the next level of growth, then it means the whole world. LinkedIn is a social networking site synonymous with professionals and businesses seeking to grow their networks for more growth.

A LinkedIn logo therefore, demands serous considerations and should not be designed with the concepts or the mentalities adopted when creating the other types of logos. If you are interested in creating a killer LinkedIn logo to separate your practice or profession from the millions that are already flocked in the site, the following is how you ought to do it right-:

Being unique is not an option

For stellar LinkedIn logo results, being unique is not an option, but rather the only option. There are millions of people and businesses in LinkedIn, all keen on establishing connections with either likeminded individuals, businesses or the right target audiences. By its very nature therefore, the only way to stand out from the crowd and be noticed by potential partners is to have a unique logo to distinguish your LinkedIn business or personal page from the rest. It is important to take your time and do adequate research so that when you finally decide to create the logo, you will be certain it is absolutely unique and there are no chances of finding similar ones in LinkedIn or anywhere else in the internet.

Understand your brand

For the most part of it, LinkedIn is all about branding and networking. You are either branding your business or yourself with the nature of products or services you provide. Unless you have a good comprehension of what your brand is all about, creating an effective LinkedIn logo may forever be a mirage. Once you have known the brand, it becomes a breeze to play around with other design elements such as symbols, fonts, colors amongst others in the creation of the logo. Therefore, be sure to know what your brand is and what it stands so that you create relevant logo that will vibrate well with your potential networks within the social media website.

Use the Psychology of color to your advantage

Color in LinkedIn logo design is not just to appeal to the eyes and make people marvel at your profile or business page. Wrong use of color in a professional social media site like LinkedIn can bring nuisance to your message and instead of attracting potential networks, they will be running away.

For you to get it right with the appropriate colors for your logo, a good understanding of the color psychology is important. This is nothing but simply how the mind perceives different colors and the kind of meaning it attaches to them. Essentially, the choice of color should be dictated by the kind of emotional responses you want to evoke or convey to those who will be seeing the logo. Below is a quick breakdown of the color psychology so that that you know which colors to choose and for what purposes-:

Yellow – inventive, sunny, optimism

Purple – royalty, wise, evocative, spiritual

Green – growth, instructional, organic

White – clean, pure, simple

Brown – historical, rural, steady

Red – sexy, energetic, bold

Blue – professional, tranquil, trustworthy, medical

Black – credible, powerful

Simple and Flexible

While branding in LinkedIn, it pays to maintain simplicity and flexibility just as you would do when creating a logo for any other offline business. Your LinkedIn logo should have the simplicity to make it memorable in the minds of as many people as possible, and it also imperative for it to be flexible enough to accommodate the changing needs of your profession or business.

The last thing you want is to have a logo that will look outdated and annoyingly deprecated after using it for just a couple of months. To gauge the level of simplicity desired for your LinkedIn logo, browse some of the top performing professionals or businesses in your industry and see what they are doing right with their logos.

Consider using the services of professional designers

With the advent of the internet and a superfluity of free online logo design tools, temptation to create your LinkedIn logo without professional input might be endearing. If you are a professional graphics designer, then such an attempt may be allowed. But if your profession is something else and you are in LinkedIn to make networks and get business, then it is highly recommended you hire professional logo designers to create the logo for you.

Professional designers have the skills and the experience needed to transform your inspiration into a design and create a functional logo that will meet your branding needs in LinkedIn. Additionally, they are well aware of the current trends and the best approaches guaranteed to give you great results in your specific niche.

Killer Tips for a Modern Logo

Modern logo design is one of the styles that many designers are keen on adopting in the present times. It is a slight shift in a design aimed at making logos adapt to the demands of modern design, without necessarily following any particular trend and while maintaining their effectiveness. Being a new approach, however, the concept of modernism is still not clear to many logo designers, especially the newbie who are just starting to get their hands wet with graphic design.

Whether or not you decide to use the modernism approach in logo design, you must ensure that the design maintains all the factors of an effective logo which includes everlastingness, flexibility, memorable and simplicity. If, however, you are sharp on being an expert in creating a contemporary logo, here are some killer tips to help you go along.

Think Future

When designing a modern logo, you should focus on the everlastingness of the design. As much as you are designing a logo to be used in the present times, you need to think about the future and consider all the practical ways in which the client is likely to use the logo. You should ask yourself if the logo will have the flexibility to be used in newsprint, online, large formats or enhanced on cloths.

Also, check if the logo will be changeable enough to be displayed on various devices such as mobile phones and tablets. Adopting such an angle in your thinking will give you the ability to create a logo that won’t only suit the needs of the business in the present times but also make room for future changes depending on the needs of the client.

Balance between contemporary logo fonts and historic logo fonts

One great aspect that determines the overall success of a contemporary logo is the choice of fonts. For the best results, it is highly recommended that you balance between contemporary and historic fonts. These fonts don’t appear playful and fancy as some of the modern fonts. They illustrate the authentic meaning of design when the industry was still in its infancy stages. They are also associated with exclusivity and nobility hence making it possible for them to be used in a more modern way.

For instance, you can try manipulating the scale and the spacing of the characters and see the various effects it has depended on the particular fonts you chose. Additionally, you can overlay the traditional fonts with some rational modern shapes when designing a modern logo so that you strike a balance between the old and the new.

Integrate traditional symbols

The other killer tip for creating a contemporary logo is the intelligent use of traditional symbols. An ingenious way of doing so would be to try and connect the design to a company that existed a long time ago. In this manner, you will create a sense of historical perspective in the modernism logo as well as a deeper level of symbolism which will make the logo not just unique but also memorable.

For you to achieve this, however, it will be imperative that you take adequate time for thorough research on the ancient symbols. The aim here is not to be a copycat but to achieve a deeper level of symbolism in the design of the modern logo.

Simplicity in the design

With every design project you work on, whether or not its a contemporary logo, simplicity will always prevail. Complicated logo designs are not just difficult to execute, but also, they never help the businesses in their branding needs. While creating a modern logo, therefore, you must strive to achieve simplicity by using fewer elements in the design. A common trend being adopted by designers working on these kinds of logos is to use a lot of negative space to improve legibility and also to help in directing the viewer’s eyes to the core elements of the design.

With contemporary logo design, there is always a tendency image-based, full-color graphics. You should, however, be very careful when working with such kinds of graphic for these logos. This is because in addition to driving up your printing costs, they won’t translate well into single colors such as black and white and this will make the design lose its versatility. Always remember to keep the design as simple as possible and only include the items that you feel are necessary.

No monotony in modern logo design

A good logo should be timeless. Take a look at Nike, BMW, Apple, etc. and you will understand this fact. When designing a contemporary logo, you must avoid monotony at all costs. For instance, when the logo is placed on the website, it should be able to stand alone and act as a powerful identifier, rather than depend on the website for exposure.

This calls for the proper use of colors so that the logo will blend well with the colors of the website and remain appealing to the eyes of the viewers. Such coherence is necessary to stop the logo from appearing monotonous, which might, in turn, trigger negative emotions and make people shy away from the brand.

Use these tips consistently and you will soon become a pro in creating a modern logo.

There are many places on the internet where you can find different design contests. For young and aspiring designers, such places usually appear alluring with the thought of getting a paid and exposing your skills to the design community. However, this can be just for the short term since there are no guarantees that taking part in a design contest will be beneficial to you in the long run. This, in essence, implies that entering the design contests is a pure waste of time, though many people will find this radical stand hard to believe.

Other than the prizes offered in the design contests, the possibility of landing clients is another reason people enter such contests. This is also why the contests are always swarmed with lots of new designers or the less experienced ones because they hope to win and attract new clients to jump start their design careers.

If you think of contests as a marketing platform, then you are very wrong and you will be disappointed at the end of each design contest. Especially if you are not among the winners, and this will be the case most of the times. To illustrate to you why it is not worth it entering the design contests, consider the following.

You risk not being paid

A typical graphics design contest will attract participants in their hundreds if not thousands. Most of the time, every participant will be required to submit more than one design, with ten being the average number for most of them. It implies that you will have to spend your time working on all the designs and submit them within the deadline. With the large number of participants, your chances of becoming the winner or even the first or second runners up are very slim.

Since these are the people who will be rewarded in the graphic design contests, there are no guarantees that you will make it to the final list. And if you are lucky enough to be among the winners, still there are no guarantees that you will be paid or get the designated prize for the winner. Therefore, there is no need to spend your precious time doing some great work, and ultimately get nothing for your sweat.

No other industry holds contests like the design industry

I know you think of the graphics design contests positively, but have you taken time to think if the same is happening in other industries? Would you go to five different dentists to fill your tooth then decide the one you will be paying? Or would you invite ten different plumbers to clear your kitchen sink then decide to pay the one whom you think did a great job in clearing the clog. Or, would you walk into a restaurant and order ten different dishes, try each one to find the one you enjoy the most then request to pay only for the one which you think satisfy you the most?

This is exactly what is going in with the design contests. Taking part in such contests is allowing yourself to get exploited by some ruthless people who probably don’t even care how your face looks like. It is only in this industry that it happens, and it should be stopped.

Design Contest makes the industry cheaper and also compromises quality

With the lack of guarantee of payment and the fact that not everyone’s design will be picked, there is a tendency for the participating designers to relax and not give their best in the design works. If you want clients to value your work, time, and skills in graphics design so that they can pay good money for your services, then you must stop thinking of contests as the best places to find such people.

Design Contests can be addicting – bad for the psychology

When you enter too many contests and you don’t win, you will get discouraged and disheartened and doubt your skills and abilities as a graphics designer. For many people, this is always the norm until they win one. When this happens, you feel very happy and elated so that you enter more contents, hoping to win again.

This creates a cycle of highs and lows in your psychology such that all your emotions and inspirations will be pegged around the design contests. Eventually, you will lose the focus needed to concentrate on your professions and develop your skills to become a better designer.

Lazy shortcut

Finally, the design contest is nothing but a lazy and time costly shortcut to getting clients. This is because nothing is required to enter the contests other than the click of a mouse, which you can do while sugaring your coffee at home. It comes with no obligations whatsoever, and you don’t have to do the designs if you don’t want.

The Solution

Get yourself out of those contests and work on proper approaches to enhancing your skills so that you can get high paying clients. Simply say goodbye to the contests.

The use of colors is very important in graphics design. It is through colors that designers manage to capture attention as well as the emotions of the target audiences. Color is not just important for the aesthetic aspects of branding, but also in connecting with the potential customers and giving them a reason to believe in the brand and use its products or services.

Quite often, designers rely on color combination to create various effects in their designs. This is not always a joy ride for most designers since a wrong combination would spell doom for the entire project. Whereas there are graphics design color tools and other resources to help designers get the color combination right, some are still not able to come up with the appropriate color shades. As you juggle your way around with the colors, here are some of the terrible color combinations you should always avoid-:

All green backgrounds with green, yellow or purple on the foreground

You might be tempted to think that having two colors with almost similar hues is a long gone concept, but you will be surprised to find tens of designers still doing it at this present time and age. Green and yellow colors have always been nice choices for landscape graphics, but using only these two colors in the design will compromise its visual appeal and readability. Green and yellow are two close together and will never give any great results. It becomes even worse should you decide to add a green background to it.

Light colors against a white background

Using light colors on a white background is another poor color combination that many designers like making in the course of their designs. It needs no special sense to know that the color white is already a light color, and so there is no way you can lay another light color on top of it. Such a design will require a lot of straining for people to read the content, even if all the text were to be made bold. This is where you need to remember the use of contrasting colors in design so that you come up with combinations that will be legible enough to all that see the design.

Rainbow or neon colors

You may wonder how eye-catching colors such as neon and rainbow colors can make a poor color combination. Well, it is true that they are very bright and easily recognizable, but only when used for lighting adverts at night. In graphic designs, neon and rainbow colors are irritating and very aversive. They make the eyes get tired quickly leading to lose of focus and attention on the design, and this takes away some of the reasons behind effective graphics design. Additionally, they will end up causing more negative feelings instead of the positive ones that designers want associated with the designs.

Textured, colored backgrounds with colored text

Using textured or colored background with a colored text is another irritating poor color combination that should be avoided at all costs. It’s not only in design that this happens but also it is a common occurrence in advertising. The problem with this type of poor color combination is that it jumbles up everything in the design making it impossible to see the images or read the text. If you have to use such a combination, then it would be advisable to play around with the opacity, or probably turn it down completely so that the colored text written above the textured background may become legible. However, this poor color combination should be avoided at all cost.

Purple, blue or red with a black ground

Colors red, blue or blue will never work well against a black background. If you use a text with these colors against a black background, no one will ever manage to read them. As a matter of fact, no text of any color will ever work against a black background. Preferably, you may consider using white or colored boxes if you have to adopt this poor color combination, but only for a line or two. Black is a very strong color and will overpower any color on the foreground making such a combination very terrible and poor combination.

Using white gradients with white text

Using white gradient with white text is another recipe for poor color combination. If you use gradients well, they will give you terrific results, but you have to be careful when using them so that you don’t hurt the entire design. It is not advisable to use the same gradient with the same text on the same design. It is true that the design might end up begin readable, but the overall look with be awful. It will also demonstrate that you lack creativity in color combination since you could only use the same gradient and the same text in the design.

There is no good time to venture into freelance design than the present. Many businesses are waking up to the need of professional branding materials increasing the demand for talented and skilled designers. Regrettable though, most of the designers have focused their efforts on active employment and the freelance rend to use proactive marketing each time they need to get new clients.

This is rather appalling, given that you can have the clients look for you and not you go hunting for them if you decided take your time and build a freelancer designer brand. If this has always been your interest but you have never had a clear way of how to build your freelance designer brand, here is how to do it without spending a lot of time or money for marketing.

Create a website or a blog

The first process in building a freelance designer brand is to a create website or have a personal blog. Through the blog, you will have an easy medium to share you work with the entire world and those interested in your services will also have an easy way of getting in touch with you. In the blog, you should not just provide a portfolio of all the works you have done, but also remember to offer useful design tips that will make potential customers perceive you as a highly skilled designer and be ready and willing to buy your gigs.

It is true that you can have your portfolio hosted in other several places on the internet, but having your blog will set you apart from the rest of the designers and portray you as a real and serious professional. Besides, you will have total control over the use of the blog and you can used it for other things like showcasing your design videos, which may be possible with the other third party portfolio websites.

Take advantage of the wider design community

The wider online design community is another place to consider when building your freelance designer brand. These communities bring together designers of all levels and from different parts of the world. They can be a source for clients since most the clients usually head over to such places looking of the right designers to do their works.

With the online design communities, you need to establish yourself as a trusted authority so that you can get the attention of your peers as well that of the potential clients. You should share some of your best work in the community. Not only this, but also you need to participate actively by taking part in the discussions going on, offering helpful tips and engaging with other members.

You should however avoid all temptations to be a bother like spamming or commenting on every thread or post. Such behaviour might work against you as you try to build your freelance designer brand.

Let your work be seen across other channels

In building a freelance designer brand, the objective is to position yourself strategically so that you can attract quality design clients. You should therefore strive to get your works out to as many channels as possible. In addition to your website and the online design communities, think about other places where you can get exposure.

For instance, you can create account with all the social media channels to help increase the exposure on your projects which will ultimately help you get more clients. But while using the various channels, it is imperative to maintain uniformity for the sake of building a uniform freelance designer brand.

Use the freelancing websites

Many skilled designers tend to shun the freelancing websites in the process of building a freelance designer brand. But these online workplaces can offer a great launch pad for your career as a freelance designer. A lot of people who need design services usually flock to the freelancing websites in search of potential designers. By being present in such sites therefore, you increase your exposure to lots of quality clients.

Additionally, most of the freelancing websites have a review system where customers can post either positive or negative reviews depending on the services they received. If you can maintain to get consistent positive reviews, it will be only a matter of time before you swarmed with orders from people seeking your services. Therefore, you should never bypass the freelancing website when building your freelance designer brand.

Introduce a value-added Giveaway

Using incentives is another powerful method you can employ in building your freelance designer brand. You can promise to offer value added complimentary services for every gig purchased from you. For instance, if someone orders a logo design, you can promise to offer them a free business card design as a giveaway. You are not just giving them something for free, but whatever you offer them will add real value to their business.

As you try to build your freelance designer brand, it is important to remember that it takes time and effort to have the brand off its feet. Be ready to do the hard work now and you will reap the benefits later on when your freelance designer brand will be doing all the marketing for you.

The Basics of Branding for Designers

It is the desire of every designer to come up with unique designs that will impact on their client or their business brands positively. But this kind of branding is not possible unless you know what it takes to come up with a winning brand. Even though knowledge and experience in graphic design are important for proper branding, they are not a requisite in coming up with killer brands.

It is true that it requires time, effort and dedication in developing proficiency in branding at a designer, but if you have a good understanding of the basis of branding for designers, you will take less time and get stellar results without struggling a lot. Here we take a look at the core components of what makes a good brand, and which every designer should be aware of if they want to create brands that will make heads turn whenever they are seen.

Never target everybody

The first item that features prominently in branding basics for designers is that no brand should be made to target everybody. A brand that targets everybody targets nobody. The way to come clean out of this and ensure that you are not aiming wide with your brand is first to identify your target audience.

This can only be achieved by conducting extensive market research and defining exactly who needs your products and services. It is out of this information that you will have a clear picture of who you will be selling to. Hence, you can craft an appropriate brand to captivate their attention. In essence, the brand should be the right fit for the targeted audience. This is by far the most important branding basics for designers you should never forget about.

Simplicity Reigns

It may be tempting to display your design prowess by coming up with very beautiful and extremely catchy designs. However, in the world of branding and design, the objective is to catch the attention of the target audience in the shortest time possible and probably make them take a desired course of action. Due to this, brands have resorted to using designs that are simple yet effective in captivating their target audiences.

This is known as the concept of “Less is more.” It is possible to create the most beautiful design in the industry, but remember, if the target audience admires the beauty of the design and fails to recognize the branding message or the brand promise, then you awesome brand design will go down the drains. Therefore, be as simple as possible in your branding while maintaining quality and high impact designs. Simplicity is thus one of the most important branding basics for designers.

Avoid Special Effects

Closely related to simplicity is the temptation to use special effects while branding. This is another core branding basics for designers. For a brand to be effective, it needs to be remembered by most, if not all, of the target audience. A sure way of achieving this is to avoid special effects in the branding materials. These include but are not limited to effects like drop shadows, gradients, and embellishments amongst other elements.

The danger of using such effects is that they risk compromising the effectiveness of the designs as the targeted audience might find them complex and may not decipher the meaning of the graphics. Even though the temptation to include such effects in your branding may be overpowering, you must resist all attempts to use them. Consider this as one of the branding basics for designers that you should never let go or think about forgetting.

Proper Use of Colors

Colors mean a lot with regards to branding basics for designers. Humans are visual beings with varied responses to different kinds of colors. As a designer who wants to come up with the best designs, proper use of color in your designs is imperative. It will be beneficial in a number of ways to learn about the graphics design color theory to understand the various emotions evoked by the different colors and also to understand the combination of color sheds you can use to get effective results from your branding efforts.

In the absence of these, you will be using colors blindly with no due consideration of the particular effects they will have on those who will see the brand. You shall have thus wasted time and effort in coming up with a blind brand. Therefore, treat the proper use of colors as one of the coveted branding basics for designers. You must just get it right or forget about having a winning design.

Uniqueness

Coming up with unique designs cannot miss when talking about branding basics for designers. Uniqueness is the only attribute that will set you apart from the rest. Of importance is the name and the symbols used in the brand. A unique name should be relevant to the target audience, and it should also be memorable. In addition to this, the name should be accompanied by an appropriate symbol that will help in conveying the central brand message.
